I decided to go see my friends for an hour and boy, was that a bad idea! I’d been feeling well during the afternoon and early evening, and then I started getting lightheaded and nauseous, just really really sick and pale and scary-looking. I had my friends call me a cab so I could make it back home…

I am definitely not going out any farther than my classes. Learned my lesson.

So my monthly stipend with Air Liquide is not that hot— 750 euros/month— but I have my $500 monthly allowance, so that comes to about 1100 euro per month for me to piss away. Considering other people are getting paid over $6,000 for their summer internships, I’m getting paid peanuts, but whatevs. As long as I have enough money to do what I want over there, I’m fine.

The other not-so-hot thing is that it starts in July. I thought it was starting in June, so now I need to figure out what the fuck I’m doing for that month, because I really, really don’t want to go to PR. Maybe I’ll travel a bit?

Also, I've decided I want to get a nice camera for my trip this summer.

• Tuesday night, I woke up literally panicking because I was dreaming about a distillation problem that was underdetermined and I needed to find a way to solve it and it wasn’t working out.

• Last night, I dreamed that the Air Liquide people called me saying they’d made a mistake and were taking back their offer for an internship.

I sort of miss getting little sleep. Little sleep means no time for dreaming!

I feel so lucky to have a father who worries enough to get on a plane for 4 hours and spend the weekend taking care of me. I’ve been getting sick a lot more since I came to MIT, and I usually tough it out alone— although the last time I was chronically ill (the flu) Dale helped a bit— but it’s just really nice to have someone there to make sure I’m doing better.
