I did a pretty good job and I’m very pleased, but tired as fuck. My entire body hurts from squatting to reach corners, stretching up to the ceiling, putting tape and ripping it off…

And even though I kinda dread doing these things, I end up satisfied with the fact that I can do it and I can do it well without anyone to help me. I’ve always been proud of how self-sufficient I am.

• Towers (i.e. the most “exclusive” place to live in the house where “everyone aspires to live one day”) actually rushed freshmen this year. And only one freshman wanted to live with them. Only because he pestered me all summer— I made the mistake of dropping it into conversation— and he promised not to judge.

Well, today I woke up to an email from him saying he hates my writing, that it’s very ugly and vulgar and this and that… And, you know, I’m upset. He’s entitled to not like it, but if he promised not to judge me based on it, then he should have kept it to himself. He spent the entire summer getting to know me, and now he chooses to make his final judgment on that? Ugh.

I wrote back saying, “Well, good thing I left France; we shouldn’t talk anymore.” Sorry, but a guy who’s going to judge me is not worth my time, not even as a friend.

Oh, and I’m going to keep writing this coming semester.

That accomplished feeling...
